Features Introduced in 2.2.2
Traffic profile importing and exporting
Traffic profile importing and exporting allows the user to share traffic profiles among different Safire testers that are running with the same software version.
Users can select one or multiple traffic profiles to export.
Users can also use the search bar above the traffic profile list to filter the ones to export. Select All Displayed button allows the user to quickly select all displayed traffic profiles for exporting.
Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) per Mbps
Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) is added to the firewall under test. Users can enter the TCO and select a currency when configuring a firewall under test in Safire.
TCO Per Mbps section is added to the report. Safire automatically finds the throughput of the bottleneck point of the firewall in the test result and calculates the TCO/Mbps.
REST API for firewall
REST API support added to firewall communicator. Users can now choose REST API as the firewall access method for Safire to monitor firewall resource and clear firewall session table between test iterations.
Users should enter the IP address and the access token of the management interface of the firewall under test. The default port number for REST API is 443. If REST API on the firewall under test is hosted on a different port number, the user should enter the port number after the IP address, for example 10.11.12.13:4443.
SSL certificate for management port
Users can import their own SSL certificates and keys to the management port of Safire for enterprise IT integration.
Users can view all the uploaded SSL certificates and keys and select one to use for the management interface of Safire. Reboot is required after committing the change.
Online Help button
Online Help button is added to the HELP page. Clicking the Help button will direct the user to Xena's support page, where the user can find Safire user manual, references, release notes, etc.
Firewall interface address with CIDR notation for testbed configuration
Firewall interface address with CIDR notation (e.g. 10.0.0.1/8) is now mandatory when the user configures the testbed configuration.
Subnet size, first and last host addresses, and gateway to the simulated subnet are displayed immediately as the user changes the firewall interface address.
For backward compatibility, the firewall interface addresses in a previous version will be converted to /8 by default.
Firewall CPU and memory chart removed when firewall access method set to Off
When firewall access method is set to OFF, Safire is not able to communicate with the firewall’s management plane to query CPU and memory usage. As a result, there is no data to show in the charts.
To prevent users from being confused when reading the test report, the firewall CPU usage and firewall memory usage charts are removed from the report when firewall access method is set to OFF.
Test Iteration Builder improved
Test Iteration Builder is improved. Users can quickly generate an iteration sequence by entering the starting percentage, step percentage, and total steps.
Each test iteration will use the configured percentage of the selected traffic profile as the traffic load.
New license management page
New license management page with graphical representation of the license valid period.
Pause test removed
The Pause Test function is removed. Users can either Run or Stop the test.
Port link status indicators added
Port link status indicators are added under the user settings. The UI now allows the users to open test cases with disconnected port link status.
VLAN IDs cannot be saved in the test case configuration
When the user configured a testbed with VLAN enabled on the firewall interfaces, the VLAN ID values could not be saved in the database. This issue made it not possible to test firewalls with VLAN tags.
Copying and pasting an IP address into the Interface Address field in the Testbed Configuration panel
When the user copied and pasted IP addresses into the Interface Address fields in the Testbed Configuration panel, the UI failed to detect the change and did not enable the Save button.
